The Ataxia and Neurogenetics Program specializes in diagnosis and treatment of hereditary and acquired disorders of the spinocerebellar and other motor pathways, such as Friedreich's ataxia, olivopontocerebellar atrophy, Joseph's disease, and Huntington's chorea. The program is designated by the State of California as a center for the study and treatment of inherited neurologic diseases. Psychosocial intervention, family counseling, nutrition, rehabilitation services, and genetic counseling are intrinsic elements of the program.
