Patient Referral

Physician Referral Services

Our partnership with health professionals in the community is key to our success at UCLA Health System. It is our goal to assist you with referring a patient to UCLA and getting access to our continuing medical education program. Registered nurses and referral coordinators are available to assist referring physicians and case managers access services at UCLA Health System through the toll-free UCLA Physician Referral Service phone line (1-800-UCLA-MD1).

Speak with a registered nurse.
Doctors and nurses can speak directly with our physician referral nurses for medical related questions.  Or, send an email to access@mednet.ucla.edu and our referral nurses will respond.

Quick turn around time.
When doctors fax a patient referral to (310) 301-5391, the referral coordinators will call your patient the same day or by the following morning to coordinate a referral.

We help your patients get started.
Referral coordinators assist your patients in obtaining a UCLA identification number - the crucial first step in accessing care.

We keep our referring physicians informed.
We send referring physicians a follow-up letter to let them know we successfully contacted their patient.

And, we send a follow-up letter to patients.
After we have spoken to your patient, we send them helpful instructions.

If you are a referring physician and would like to add or update your information in our database, please contact Referring Physician Database Support by email at RPDS@mednet.ucla.edu
