The Optic Neuropathy Center provides multidisciplinary consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with diseases involving the optic nerve. The center incorporates specialized facilities and equipment for diagnostic testing, including:
- quantitative perimetry with statistical analysis,
- ultrasonic and color flow Doppler imaging,
- computerized topographic optic disc analysis,
- visual evoked response,
- high resolution magnetic resonance optic nerve imaging with local surface coils.
Recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic surgical techniques are utilized.
The center provides the administrative framework for participation in national multicenter clinical trials.
