A Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit was established at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA in 2008.
The Unit is composed of 6 bed unit dedicated to the management of infants and children with heart disease. This unit is used to care for all post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients as well as high risk patients requiring an increased level of specialized care prior to surgical intervention. The Pediatric CTICU is staffed by specialized physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists with extensive experience in the care of these patients.
