Dr. Ghassemi is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the Director of Clinical Programs for the Esophageal Center. After graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences UCLA, he obtained his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. He then returned to UCLA to complete his Internal Medicine residency and Digestive Diseases fellowship.

Dr. Ghassemi has co-authored manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts on gastrointestinal bleeding, and has given oral presentations on upper and lower gastrointestinal disorders.
