Additional Information
Andrea L. Nicol, MD, holds a BA in Human Biology from the University of Kansas, and an MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California – Irvine and a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of California Los Angeles. After residency, she then continued her training and completed a fellowship in Pain Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Nicol has a special interest in clinical research, and during her fellowship, completed coursework towards a Masters of Science in Clinical Research. She has finished her Masters Thesis and is the Director of Research at the UCLA Pain Management Center. Dr. Nicol has been involved with multiple clinical trials and has many ongoing studies at the present time.

Dr. Nicol has authored abstracts and presented at multiple national meetings, including the American Society for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management meeting in November 2009, where she won the prestigious Resident Travel Award for her work on a research project with Dr. F. Micheal Ferrante.

Her main areas of interest are post-inguinal hernia repair pain, opioid-induced hyperalgesia and neuropathic pain and she strives to provide comprehensive pain management care, including interventional pain procedures, medication management, complimentary and alternative medicine, and pain psychology.
