Additional Information
Dr. Soniya Gandhi recently joined the UCLA faculty in April 2012. She completed her undergraduate studies in molecular biology at Princeton University and received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. During a voluntary one year leave from medical school, she worked in rural clinics along the Thai-Burma border, southern India, Tanzania, and Peru. She completed her internal medicine residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and worked as an internist for a year. She then completed her infectious diseases fellowship and Masters in Public Health from Columbia University Medical School in NY. Subsequently, she worked at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and was the Brooklyn Medical Director of a large community-based health organization called Housing Works in NYC. Her research interests include HIV prevention, particularly in women and under-served populations, as well as general infections in immunocompromised populations.
She has an outpatient clinic at 200 Medical Plaza in Westwood and is accepting new patients. Soniya is also an avid outdoorswoman, who enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, and surfing.
