Benjamin J. Ansell, MD, received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine, where he subsequently performed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Ansell currently serves as Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine. He also serves as Co-Director of the University's UCLA Cholesterol, Hypertension, & Atherosclerosis Management Program (CHAMP) and its Comprehensive Health Program. Dr. Ansell is a member of the American Heart Association Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, The National Lipid Association, a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. He is also past President of the Executive Board of the UCLA Department of Medicine.
Chosen by Town & Country magazine as one of the "Best Physicians in America," Dr. Ansell is also a researcher in cardiovascular risk reduction strategies. He is also principal investigator of the hs-CRP and HDL Effects of Statins Trial (CHEST), the Statin Improvement in HDL Function Trial (SHIFT), and the Statins' Antirheumatic Activitity (SARA) Trial. He is a member of the review boards of The American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of General Internal Medicine, American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, and WebMD. He has published research papers in Circulation, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and the American Journal of Cardiology, among others. He has also been featured by The New York Times, CNN, ABC World News Tonight, MSNBC, Dateline NBC, Good Morning Los Angeles, and National Public Radio.
