BIO
Dr. Jonathan Sack is a Board Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon with over 20 years experience. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of General Surgery. Dr. Sack attended Medical School at the University of Florida and completed General Surgery Residency Training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He progressed in his academic career at UAB to Associate Professor in the Section of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He then completed Fellowship Training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Saint Vincent's Health Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. He has been Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since 2000 and specializes in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (F.A.S.C.R.S.) and of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.).
Dr. Sack has extensive experience in treating patients with Colon and Rectal Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis), as well as Anorectal Disorders and Pelvic Floor disorders. He is credentialled in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Endoscopy. Dr. Sack has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals including both basic research articles as well as clinical research articles. He is a member of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He has presented lectures at national and regional meetings and is active as an Attending Faculty Surgeon at The Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he has teaching responsibilities for Surgical Residents and Medical Students. His special interests include sphincter-sparing surgery for low rectal cancer, reconstructive surgery for ulcerative colitis (ileal pouch procedure), and treatment of hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes including FAP, attenuated APC, and HNPCC (Lynch syndrome). Dr. Sack has clinical research interests in many aspects of colorectal surgery is an active co-investigator in several ongoing clinical trials.
