F. Michael Ferrante, MD, holds a BS in Biology from Tulane University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, and an MD from New York Medical College. He received his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and fellowship in Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Dr. Ferrante is currently Director of UCLA Pain Management Center and Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles.
He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology with Added Qualifications in Pain Medicine. Dr. Ferrante is a former Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He was the former Director of the Cancer Pain and Symptom Management Program, University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center. He was the Associate Medical Director, Board of Directors, Penn Home Infusion Committee.
He is a Past President of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Ferrante is a consultant reviewer for the following journals: Anesthesia and Analgesia, Anesthesiology, Clinical Journal of Pain, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Pain. He is a current member of the Editorial Board for 3 national journals, as well as being a member of the International Editorial Advisory Board for the Turkish Journal of Pain.
A teacher, researcher and lecturer since 1987, Dr. Ferrante has published over 47 journal articles, more than 43 book chapters, and edited 2 books.
