Research Interest

Patient-physician communication and its impact on health outcomes.

Dr. Rose Maly's research focuses on how patient-physician relationships, as well as patients' psychological and social environments, affect subsequent treatment and quality of life in breast cancer patients. Maly's studies have specifically focused on vulnerable populations of breast cancer patients who are at risk for poorer outcomes, including older, ethnic minority and low-income, underserved breast cancer patients. Maly's ultimate goal is to develop interventions to improve access to breast cancer care, as well as quality of care and quality of life, in these special populations.
