ABC Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a family centered treatment program servinc children between 6-12 yrs. Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. The ABC Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a family centered treatment program serving children between the ages of 6-12. Our program is in the afternoons on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3-5 pm. The IOP level of care is designed to treat children who need more than once a week therapy session but do not reach the level of needing a partial hospitalization or a full inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

The ABC intensive outpatient therapy program utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach to help children with challenges at home, school, and with peers. Common difficulties include youth struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, disruptive mood dysregulation, school refusal, prenatal alcohol exposure, and mild autism spectrum disorders. Our program recognizes the importance of family participation and actively engages and supports family members while their children are enrolled in the program.

The ABC IOP is a child centered program that addresses parent-child interactions and encourages parent involvement. The afternoon allows group time specifically for children, parents, as well as children and parents together. Treatment is provided in a group format but is tailored to individual family needs. Services include child and parent groups, individual therapy, and medication management.

Our multidisciplinary team of clinical social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and hospital aids work together with individual families and utilize the most current evidenced based practices.

IOP groups include:

  • CBT
  • Social Skills
  • Mindfulness Practice
  • Parenting Skills Group
  • Community Group
