Student Volunteer Program

Student Volunteers The Volunteer Services Student Program Coordinator works to make your volunteering experience a valuable asset towards your career goals. Our various volunteer positions offer opportunities for students to explore various healthcare-related options. We have a few changes to our program based on the overwhelming number of students who wish to volunteer, as well as the current needs of our hospital.

Volunteer Services currently has openings in the following departments ONLY:

Patient Transport

Child Life (must be 16 years or older)

Floater

Surgical Waiting Area (must be 18 years or older )

Clerical

Front Door Greeter

Once you are accepted into the program, you will be asked to select a department from the choices above to begin your volunteer experience.  If you wish to volunteer in another area, you must first complete the 100-hour pre-requisite in one of the above areas before transferring.

Any students who have pre-arranged an assignment in another area with a UCLA supervisor must enter through our pre-assigned program.  This will entail providing a job description from your supervisor and attending a pre-assigned orientation - not a general student orientation.

Applying to Volunteer

All students must first send a completed application, including the 500-word essay, stating the applicant's reasons for volunteering to:
