Non-Student Program
Our volunteer program is designed for retirees, working individuals, and others who are not currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. The Non-Student/Adult Program Coordinator will help to place you in an area that best matches your skills, interests, and availability.
Our Volunteering Opportunities
We have many volunteer opportunities at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. There are many different departments available for Non-Student/Adult volunteers, so there is an opportunity to accommodate any volunteer with any type of schedule. Volunteer opportunities are based on the current needs of requesting departments and on the volunteer's suitability, experience and time commitment. Hours are flexible varying by program, with evening and weekend hours available in some departments.
Applying to Volunteer
Due to the overwhelming interest in our volunteer program at UCLA Health System, we have revised the volunteer application and intake process. All prospective volunteers must first send a completed application in addition to a 500-word essay, stating the applicant’s reasons for volunteering to:

Once the essays and applications are received and reviewed, those accepted will be invited to the next available orientation. Click button below to download the non-student application.
Requirements
- Completion of a Non-Student Volunteer application form
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Complete and pass a required background check
- Agreement to volunteer for 100 hours within ten months; commitment of four hours per week
- Completion of all required immunizations, including 2 TB skin tests, MMR and Varicella 2 vaccines or titer showing immunity
- Completion of all required volunteer forms.
- Tdap vaccination or declination form filled out.
