Quality & Service / Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center

Patient Satisfaction

patient careUCLA Health System is fully committed to providing each of our patients and their family members with the best possible hospital experience.  To ensure our patients are satisfied with the care we provide, we ask them to tell us about their experiences in our facilities and their level of satisfaction with the services provided by our staff.  The information provided is used to continually improve the experiences of the patients who entrust us with their lives.

About HCAHPS:
The New National Standard for Measuring Satisfaction among Hospital Patients
Beginning in 2008, satisfaction among patients receiving care UCLA Health System hospitals will be reported through Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), a voluntary national, standardized survey of hospital patients' perspectives of their care.  The public reporting of HCAHPS results will enable patients to make valid "apples to apples" comparisons across all hospitals when evaluating and selecting hospital providers.  HCAHPS is sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.  Results are available on the Hospital Compare website (http://www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov/).

  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a type of bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics.   It occurs most frequently among persons in hospitals and nursing homes who are weakened by illness.  To reduce the risk of MRSA infection at UCLA,  we emphasize meticulous hand washing when caring for all patients, use of gloves and gowns when caring for patients known to have MRSA, high-risk patient screening, and appropriate use of antibiotics - our goal is achieve a zero rate for this infection.
