Heart Valve Disease

The UCLA Heart Valve Diseases Program's goal is to be able to provide multidisciplinary comprehensive care to patients with valvular heart disease. The UCLA Heart Valve Program offers state-of-the-art care in the following services:

Imaging procedures

  • Transthoracic echocardiography
  • Transesophageal echocardiography including 3D TEE
  • Intracardiac echocardiography
  • Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Catheter-based procedures

  • Balloon Valvuloplasty (aortic valve, mitral valve, pulmonic valve)
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (Edwards SAPIEN valve)
  • Transcatheter Pulmonic Valve Implantation (Medtronic MELODY valve)

Surgical-based procedures

  • Surgical valve replacement including minimally invasive aortic valve replacement (AVR)
  • Surgical valve repair including robotic-assisted mitral valve repair
