Brain Tumor Program

New approaches make possible improved tumor control with fewer harmful effects, reduced hospital stays and even avoidance of craniotomy. State-of-the-art scanning techniques provide improved tumor identification. Computer-assisted surgical navigation, radiofrequency under MRI guidance, frameless stereotactic intraoperative mapping, variable microscope angle exposures, and stereotactic radiosurgery for inoperable tumors permit excellent patient outcomes while preserving function. Challenging pituitary disorders such as craniopharyngiomas, parasellar neoplasms, hormonal disturbances, and lesions involving the optic apparatus are managed by an experienced transsphenoidal surgery team.

As part of its team approach to the management of patients with brain tumors, this program holds a multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Board that weekly reviews particularly complex and challenging cases.

Areas of program focus include:

  • Acoustic neuromas Benign and skull base tumors
  • Pituitary tumors
  • Primary and metastatic brain tumors
