The UCLA Endocrine Surgical Unit is a multidisciplinary subspecialty service with a focus on diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Our goal is to bring together expertise in endocrine surgery, medical endocrinology, oncology, pathology, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine to offer the highest level of patient care available worldwide. We specialize in treatment of the following conditions:
- Thyroid nodules
- Thyroid cancer
- Hyperthyroidism (including Graves disease)
- Hyperparathyroidism
- Adrenal tumors (including pheochromocytoma, primary hyperaldosteronism, adrenal Cushing's syndrome, and incidentally discovered adrenal masses)
- Familial endocrine syndromes (multiple endocrine neoplasia)
We also have a special interest in the long-term follow up of childhood cancer survivors and other radiation-exposed individuals, who are at high risk for the development of thyroid cancer. Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures we offer include:
- Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy
- Minimally invasive parathyroidectomy
- Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
