To study the potential for low fat, high fiber diets, soy protein, and supplements to prevent the development and progression of prostate cancer.
Research Focus: To identify clinical, pathologic, and molecular markers that predict prostate cancer progression in Caucasian and African American Men with prostate cancer. A database has been established and is being maintained at the West Los Angeles VA to compare clinical and pathologic variables in African American Men and Caucasian Men with prostate cancer. Archived tissue is being studied to evaluate molecular markers for predicting prognosis in these patient groups following radical prostatectomy.
William Aronson, M.D. Professor in the UCLA Department of Urology, Chief of Urology at the UCLA/Olive View Medical Center, and Director of Urologic Oncology at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Aronson completed his residency at the UCLA School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
