Dr. Mukherjee graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she served as Chief Resident. She holds a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in health policy and administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As a National Health Service Corps Scholar, she has practiced in underserved communities. She was a clinical associate at the University of Chicago Medical Center prior to relocating to southern California. Her clinical and academic interests include general primary care of adults and children, newborn care, adolescent health, well woman care, preventative medicine, health care disparities, and medical education.
Dr. Mukherjee has received several awards throughout her career including the Gold Foundation Humanism & Excellence in Teaching Award for compassionate, relationship-centered care, Alpha Omega Alpha Clinical Teaching Award, Merck Manual “Doctor’s Doctor” Award, and Novartis Community Service Award. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American College of Physicians and Golden Key International Honour Society.
Dr. Mukherjee frequently volunteers to provide medical support for various international health and humanitarian initiatives. She enjoys traveling, writing poetry, and scuba diving. She is proficient in Spanish and Bengali.
