Research Interest
  1. The clinical and molecular epidemiology and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus surgical site infections, recurrent blood-stream infections and community-associated infections.
  2. The clinical and molecular epidemiology of Clostridium difficile associated disease and prevention of transmission in the nursing home population.
  3. Using technology and medical informatics to improve surveillance for nosocomial and emerging infections in both the hospital and community.
  4. Pandemic influenza planning.
Additional Information

Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Zachary Rubin received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and did his residency in Internal Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.  In addition to his clinical training in Infectious Diseases at Emory University in Atlanta, he did 2 years of research in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Rubin also trained in clinical research at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory.  At UCLA, Dr. Rubin has assumed the position of Hospital Epidemiologist at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital.
