UCLA Quality Measures Available on New Website

Nationally, a number of organizations have launched initiatives that focus on evaluating and improving quality and efficiency in the U.S. healthcare system. These groups—which include providers, consumers, employers, health insurance organizations and others—have developed evidence-based measures to evaluate, standardize and compare the performance of hospitals, physicians and other providers across the country. Publicly reporting these measures provides consumers with greater access to information to help them make informed choices about their healthcare.

This year, UCLA Health proudly joins with leading providers of healthcare in Southern California and in communities across the country in publishing on our website our performance results on a number of important quality measures. These measures reflect how our patients view the quality of care provided by UCLA Health; how often we comply with providing evidenced-based care for patients with conditions such as heart attack, stroke or pneumonia; and the average survival rates, by condition and procedure, experienced by patients receiving medical and surgical care in our facilities.

In addition to reporting the performance results of UCLA Health on patient satisfaction and key clinical quality indicators, we also share information regarding our accreditations, our collaboration with other national and international organizations involved in continuous healthcare quality improvement, and our most recent awards and achievements. Our website also offers important educational information about how to search for and evaluate reports about the quality of care provided by hospitals, physicians and others, with specific references and links to some of the nation’s leading organizations involved in the public reporting of healthcare quality data.

We encourage you to take a moment to peruse the information provided on our website www.uclahealth.org/quality regarding the quality of care you can expect to receive as a patient of UCLA Health. We believe that after reviewing the information, you will understand why we are considered the “Best in the West.”
