Getting to Know UCLA Health System

10/01/2008

UCLA Health physicians provide an array of cutting-edge and research-based primary and specialty services in four hospitals on two campuses, and in more than 75 clinic locations. We have moved into our new hospital, and as we make other changes in our health system, we strive continually to redefine the standard of excellence in healthcare and to provide patients with the best possible experience.

On June 29, 2008, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center opened on the Westwood campus. The new 530-bed home of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA offers patients the latest in technological advances in a welcoming environment that is filled with light and open spaces to enhance a sense of wellness and promote healing.

Two Locations, Same Excellent Services

Some of the services formerly offered in Westwood have been moved to UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, including geriatrics, orthopaedics, some medicine patients, some pediatrics and many inpatient oncology services. In addition, depending on the patient’s medical needs and bed availability, patients requiring hospitalization may be admitted to either Westwood or Santa Monica. When necessary and appropriate, emergency patients in Westwood may be transferred and treated at our Santa Monica hospital. The Santa Monica hospital is also undergoing a major rebuilding project which will result in a 271-bed hospital with an additional 315,000 square feet of new space. Whether our patients are being treated at UCLA Health’s clinics or hospitals in Westwood or Santa Monica, they will receive the same exceptional care and compassion that you associate with UCLA.
