Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA Expands to Santa Monica
The addition of a 15-bed general pediatrics unit and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica brings to the local community the quality of pediatric care for which UCLA is known. These new services broaden the scope of children's healthcare at the hospital already known for its obstetrics care at The BirthPlace and for its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
"The new 15-bed pediatrics unit is Santa Monica's only inpatient pediatrics unit for children who require hospital care," notes Posie Carpenter, chief administrative officer. It is staffed by the faculty of Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, which ranks among the top in the nation, according to U.S.News & World Report's "America's Best Children's Hospitals."
