VS-Spring2011-Did You Know?Aspirin, a popular analgesic and cardiac medication, causes allergic reactions in a significant percentage of the general population and about 10 percent of all asthma sufferers. The UCLA Food and Drug Allergy Care Center in Santa Monica is the only facility in greater Los Angeles dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults who suffer from drug allergies. The center provides comprehensive services, including graded drug challenges, aspirin and other drug-desensitization programs, and complete skin testing for penicillin allergies.
