The Department of MedicineDivision of Pulmonary and Critical Care MedicineClinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory |
The Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratories provide both outpatient and inpatient facilities and offer a comprehensive range of exercise evaluations including maximal exercise testing on a cycle ergometer, treadmill exercise tests and six-minute walking tests. Specific services include measurement of maximal oxygen uptake and cardiovascular, ventilatory, gas exchange, and symptomatic responses to exercise with the ability to monitor blood pressure, electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, or arterial blood gases.
These services can be helpful in the diagnosis and management of patients with exertional dyspnea, fatigue, myalgia, suspected interstitial lung disease, exercise induced bronchospasm, hypoxemia, myocardial ischemia, and hypertension. Maximal exercise tests can also be used to assess rehabilitation needs, operative risk, and disability claims.
