Musicians on Call

Founded in 1999, Musicians on Call brings music to the bedside of pediatric patients in hospitals nationally. Today, Musicians on Call provides services in New York, Nashville, Philadelphia, Miami and Washington, DC. We're thrilled to pilot the first Musicians on Call Program on the west coast at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA.

Flashes of Hope

Flashes of Hope creates positive experiences through photographs for chronically ill pediatric patients and their families, free of charge.

Hospital playrooms and patient rooms are transformed into photography studios as a volunteer team of skilled photographers, makeup artists and hairstylists work collaboratively to help chronically ill children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it through photos. For a few magical moments, children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly laughing, smiling and sharing their unique personalities. Nurses can participate, and families are presented with portraits that will forever preserve the beauty, grace and dignity of their child.

Lollipop Theater Network

Lollipop Theater Network is dedicated to bringing the magic of movies currently showing in theaters to children confined to hospitals nationwide due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Their goal is to create a fun escape from the daily reality of the illnesses these children face and to offer them and their families a moment of normalcy in an otherwise stressful environment.

The Art of Elysium

The Art of Elysium encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing.

Discovery Arts

Discovery Arts uses the arts as tools to help children step outside the confines of their illness and into the world of creativity and imagination. Children with cancer have enormous emotional needs: they need a safe place to express their feelings about their illness; they need relief from the pain and chaos of critical illness; they desperately need fun and normalcy.  Their programs, called Arts Adventures, meet these needs through fun, interactive explorations of music, dance, art and drama.  These creative adventures strengthen children's emotional health so they can better cope with the enormous difficulties of critical illness.  This in turn positively impacts their treatment and recovery.

The Painted Turtle

The Painted Turtle is a summer camp and year-round care center for children with serious illnesses and their families located in Lake Hughes, CA. The Painted Turtle offers an exhilarating and nurturing traditional summer camp experience intertwined with intentional programs that inspire children to become more self-confident and self-reliant. The program is supported by an exceptional medical team and facility and is free of charge to campers and their families. In addition to the onsite programs The Painted Turtle provides an in-hospital camp experience, The Painted Turtle Outpost, at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital's pediatric in- and out-patient clinics monthly to deliver the magic of camp and community.

Founded in 2006, Spirit of Children helps make hospitals less scary for kids and their families by providing fun during Halloween and funding all year long to Child Life Departments within children's hospitals. Each year with the help of our vendor partners, Spirit sponsors and hosts Halloween celebrations in children's hospitals throughout the country. Members of the Spirit field team bring everything that's needed in order to have the best party possible from costumes to goody bags. Everything brought to the hospitals is donated by Spirit and our vendor partners. It's a remarkable event that touches thousands of pediatric patients and brings countless smiles and laughter to children who might otherwise miss out on the joy of Halloween.

This donation was made possible by Spirit Halloween's Spirit of Children Program . For several years, support from Spirit Halloween has enabled the Chase Child Life Program to fund a Child Life specialist in the ER
