THE UCLA PEDIATRIC PALLIATIVE CARE TASK FORCE, established in
2005, is a multidisciplinary† group of UCLA healthcare professionals from
many different specialties including oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology,
neonatology.  We meet every 1st Thursday of the month to discuss different
topics to improve care for critically ill pediatric patients.

Task Force Milestones and Accomplishments:

  • Development of education, policy, clinical care subcommittees in pediatric palliative care.
  • Developed pediatric palliative care policy for UCLA.
  • Created guidelines for the Children’s Comfort Care Program clinical service.
    • Eligibility requirements
    • Referral Form process
  • Created guidelines for developing Parent Advisory Board.
  • Created guidelines for support groups.
  • Contribution to the development of research questions.
  • Development of symptom management resources.
  • Ongoing discussions to improve communication for working with:
    • Pediatric patients
    • Families
    • Health care subspecialty teams
  • Development of guidelines for Comfort Corner.
