Where will you be?

International electives:  Many of our residents have a passion for caring for children in international settings, and especially in resource poor regions of the world.  Each year, around half of our third year residents take advantage of an opportunity to participate in a four week long global health elective..  Existing opportunities are already available at training sites in India, Nepal, sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.  Residents may also establish electives in other international venues, provided that these venues offer a quality educational experience with appropriate support and supervision.  Financial support to help offset the costs of travel, and lodging, is provided by the Mattel Global Scholars fund.  In addition, pre-participation training in global health is offered both through the Department of Pediatrics and the Global Health Education Program through the DGSOM at UCLA.
