Research and Innovation

The UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute (UCLA CDII), founded to save lives and advance children’s healthcare around the globe, will drive multidisciplinary collaboration among faculty and ensure a healthy future for children through transformative research.

UCLA Children's Discovery and Innovation Institute

The Institute will pioneer advancements in children’s medicine in the following four core areas of research:

  • Neuroscience
  • Metabolism
  • Cancer
  • Inflammation

Each area will focus on prevention, screening, treatment, and training opportunities for the next generation of pediatricians. A mentorship program in the four primary research areas will enable younger physicians and scientists to learn from UCLA’s cadre of experts. Research advancements will be shared across the Nation and around the world to ensure that the Institute’s impact is felt well beyond the boundaries of Westwood.

The UCLA CDII is ready to undertake the research challenges of pediatric medicine and is poised to change the nature of children’s health. Stay tuned for more information about how the UCLA CDII is working to improve the health and quality of life for children and their families.
