There's no place like home, but UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica is a better place to have your baby. We combine a comfortable, home-like setting with the latest technology and experienced, caring health professionals to ensure a safe birthing experience. Our elegant Labor/Delivery/Recovery - LDR - rooms were designed to recreate the feel of home or a hotel room. In addition to bedside monitoring, portable monitoring equipment, if needed, will allow you to walk freely during labor and special birthing beds will help achieve a smoother delivery. There are even chairs that convert into sleepers so that Dad or another support person can stay overnight in your room.
After your delivery, you'll be moved to our comfortable, private Postpartum rooms, where we use rooming-in with couplet care, in which the same nurse cares for both you and your baby. This practice helps ensure continuity of care and enables you to develop a bond with your baby before leaving our hospital.
