Services at The BirthPlace

As one of Southern Californias most complete and highly regarded maternity centers, The BirthPlace offers these specialized services:

New motherHigh-Risk Pregnancy Care. Our Perinatal Center provides ongoing care for patients considered at high risk for complications during their pregnancies. The center is run by a world-renown perinatalogist (doctor who specializes in caring for high-risk pregnancies).

If you experience premature labor or other complications, you may be admitted to our Antepartum Unit for specialized nursing care, including intensive monitoring and intravenous drug therapy. The unit also provides care to patients expecting multiple babies. Our staff perinatalogist can consult with your physician about any high-risk pregnancy issues.

Non-Stress Testing Lab. When ordered by your physician, this unit performs specialized monitoring to check on the health status of you and your baby during your pregnancy.

24-hour Obstetrical Anesthesia. Our dedicated, in-house anesthesiologists cover The BirthPlace on a 24-hour basis to ensure you have access to anesthesia during labor or should an emergency C-section become necessary. These highly skilled professionals provide continuous epidural anesthesia, which provides pain relief while you remain awake. It has been proven safe for both you and your baby. Our anesthesiologists will answer your questions and address your concerns about pain management.

Well-Baby Nursery. Our Well-Baby Nursery, staffed 24 hours by nurses who specialize in newborn and postpartum care, is where your baby will be bathed and undergo nursing assessments, screenings, hearing tests, procedures such as circumcision, pediatrician exams, consultations and observation. The unit also provides respite by taking care of your newborn when you need time for yourselves. Besides the latest technology, our Nursery features large windows to enable family members and friends to view your new arrival.

Neonatal Intensive Care. The BirthPlace also provides special care for special babies in our Neonatal Intensive-Care Unit, a Level-II facility. You may not need its services, but you'll rest assured knowing this highly specialized unit is nearby.

Personalized Assistance. Our BirthPlace Manager and Education Coordinator are both mothers and instructors with extensive experience in all aspects of maternity care.
