UCLA 5000th Kidney Transplant UCLA’s kidney transplant program performs its 5000th surgery

UCLA’s kidney transplant program reached two nearly simultaneous milestones: the 44-year-old program on Jan. 25 marked its 5000th kidney transplant surgery. And on Jan. 31, Dr. Albin Gritsch, surgical director of the kidney transplant program, performed his 2000th—one of the highest number for a single transplant surgeon.
