UCLA Health System Auxiliary: Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays

Adopt-A-Family"This project is close to my heart and represents the Auxiliary's mission - to do what we can to enhance the lives of UCLA patients." - Rachel Dourec, chair, Adopt-A-Family Project

We have launched the 2012 campaign and are asking for your generous support. Your involvement can make a significant difference in helping us bring some holiday cheer to our patients and their families.

For an opportunity to participate, please contact Rachel Dourec at racheldourec@att.net.

For many, the holiday season conjures up expectations of joyous family gatherings, special foods and wonderful gifts. However, for some-especially those with a severely ill family member-these festive times can be a cruel reminder of personal loss and deprivation, a time when family budgets, already stretched tight or even nonexistent, cannot bear the cost of a traditional holiday meal or small gifts for the children.

Each year, the UCLA Health System Auxiliary coordinates the Adopt-A-Family Project where selected families of UCLA patients who are experiencing extraordinary challenges receive at least the basic essentials-and sometimes a few unexpected extras-to make the holidays a little brighter for the whole family.

Funded by the UCLA Health System Auxiliary and the Los Angeles community-at-large, this project is able to bring joy to many families in need.

You can join the Auxiliary in adopting our patient families by making a tax-deductible contribution. All funds collected go directly to the families. The Auxiliary will purchase practical items and gift cards for the family and deliver them on your behalf.

Sponsors who prefer to do it themselves have the option to shop and deliver for their assigned families.

The deadline to participate in this worthwhile project is December 15. Sponsors who wish to shop and deliver, must make their request by December 5.
