Student Volunteer Program

UCLA Santa Monica Student VolunteerThe Volunteer Services Student Program Coordinator works to make your volunteering experience a valuable asset towards your career goals. Over 300 volunteer positions offer opportunities for students to explore various healthcare-related options. Each year up to 10 student volunteers are selected to win awards, in which winners are announced late each spring at a special event.

Due to the overwhelming student interest in volunteering for UCLA Health, we have revised the student application and intake process. All students must first send a completed application including the 500-word essay, stating the applicant's reasons for volunteering to:

Student Application

Qualification and Health Requirements

  • Minimum age 15 years old
  • Agreement to volunteer for 100 hours or more; commitment of four hours per week
  • Proof of Varicella, MMR and TB. Please click on here for detailed information on health requirements.

  • November 12, 2014 4:30PM - 6:30PM

  • December 10, 2014 4:30PM - 6:30PM

Applications may be submitted in person, by fax or received by mail into the Volunteer Services Office by the deadline date, which is no later than 1 month prior to the orientation date at noon at the latest. If the month prior falls on the weekend, it needs to be turned in the Friday before at noon. We do not keep applications for more than one month. If you are a student interested in volunteering for the summer only you need to submit your application in April or May.  We are no longer accepting applications for summer as of June 9, 2014. For those volunteers who complete the process and become an active volunteer we give 4 hours of credit for orientation.

Please arrive 20 minutes before the orientation. Doors will close promptly at start of each session, no late attendees allowed.
All orientations will be held at SM-UCLA Hospital, 1250 16th St, SM 90404 (between Arizona and Wilshire)
