CHRCDA (K12) Child Health Research Career Development Award Program

Application Process:

A single PDF file should be emailed to Emily Manczuk by Monday, November 1, 2013 using the NIH K08 format including the following materials:

  1. Letter from the Scientific Mentor regarding career development and provision of laboratory resources.
  2. Letter from the Division Chief regarding protected time.
  3. Letter from the Scientific Advisory Board Members (at least 3).
  4. A statement from the applicant regarding immediate and future career plans.
  5. NIH biosketches for both the candidate and mentor(s).
  6. For successful continuation applicants, a progress report is required.

Other Details:

Budget is fixed at $98,000/year and the award is for one year. $75,000 is towards the applicant's salary and the remaining amount is towards supplies, technical assistance and PI travel.

  • The duration of the award is December 1st - November 30th.
  • The application will be peer reviewed according to the NIH scoring system. There will be four awards per year. Scholars that were funded the previous year is eligibile to apply with the inclusion of a progress report for an additional year of funding. The progress report must provide the publications and the grant applications submitted during the last year.
  • The peer review is based on the significance and approach of the science proposed, investigator's track record and career plans, environment provided by the mentor with plans for the formation of a Scientific Advisory Board Committee.
  • Awardees are expected to present their data at the NICHD-CHRC annual meeting and at the annual UCLA CHRC external review session on Science Day.
