Julianne & Derek Hough

Julianne & Derek Hough - Kaleidoscope Award

Julianne Hough and Derek Hough give true meaning to the term multi-talented. This dynamic sister and brother duo first gained international prominence as professional dancers on the hit ABC series Dancing with the Stars. Julianne has gone on to achieve great success in film, television and music. Derek has garnered an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography and will soon be seen co-starring in the film Make Your Move. Together they recently announced their newest project-Move Live on Tour-a live dance production that will tour this summer throughout the country-and they do it all with genuine heart and humanity.

A two-time professional champion on Dancing with the Stars, Julianne went on to make a seamless transition to become an award-winning Academy of Country Music recording artist, and to make her feature film debut in Burlesque. She next starred in the update of Footloose and in the all-star film adaptation of the musical, Rock of Ages. More recently she starred opposite Josh Duhamel in Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven, directed by Lasse Hallstrom, and will next be seen in Diablo Cody's directorial debut, Paradise, opposite Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer. She also has launched her first shoe line, Julianne Hough for Sole Society.

Derek is the only five-time champion in franchise history on Dancing with the Stars. In addition to his Emmy win, he has garnered four more Emmy nods for his choreography. He also performed in London's West End where he starred as the male lead in the critically acclaimed stage version of Footloose, was one of the featured dancers on the Dancing with the Stars Tour, and served as choreographer on the BBC (UK) hit show, Dance X. Among his professional ballroom accolades are: World Under 21 Latin American Champion, two-time Open British Champion, two-time International 'Open to the World Champion' and two-time US Open Champion.

Both siblings share a deep commitment to giving back to make a difference in the lives of others. This past February, Derek helped raise over $1 million for breast cancer research at the "Bust A Move" event in Ottawa, Canada. Julianne is actively involved with a number of worthy causes including the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Clothes Off Our Back, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the American Red Cross. Very close to her heart, she serves as an ambassador for the Kind Campaign and is helping the program launch its first Kind Camp in Los Angeles next month where she will co-lead the breakout session on Media & Self Esteem, using her platform to open discussion about the negative effect tabloids and gossip can have on body image and confidence.

It is with great pleasure that Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA presents the 2014 Kaleidoscope Award to Julianne Hough and Derek Hough.
