Seeking volunteers to participate in the advancement of COVID-19 research

The purpose of this research study is to understand COVID-19 (also known as SARSCoV-2 or coronavirus) incidence, clinical manifestations, and risk factors of infection among health care workers.

You may participate in this study if:

You are a UCLA Health employee (contract, part-time, or full-time) at either Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center or UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica. You will be an employee of UCLA Health for at least the next 6 months, are 18 years of age or older, have not had a confirmed COVID-19 case among your household/close contacts within the prior 14 days and have not had any of the following symptoms in the past 24 hours:

  • Fever
  • Persistent dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Difficulty breathing/ shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea
  • Severe fatigue
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste
  • Non-allergic nasal congestion

You must also have access to a vehicle, since some of the sample collection is done in a parking lot with you inside of an enclosed vehicle.

Participation involves:

  • A time commitment of ~20-40 minutes every other week for 6 months
    • If you test positive for COVID-19, the time commitment will shift to every week until you clear infection, and the study team will follow you monthly for an additional 6 months
  • Coming to the UCLA campus for study activities (including providing nasal swabs, blood, and saliva samples)
  • Completing online surveys
  • A $10 Amazon gift card
