Double vision

The ability to see a single image with two eyes involves a complex orchestration of eye muscles, nerves, and other parts of the eye working in concert with the brain. Double vision, or diplopia, is the perception of seeing two images, rather than a single object.

Double vision can be normal, such as the double image of an object close by when viewing a distant object. Diplopia can also, however, be a symptom of many abnormal eye conditions, including:

  • Amblyopia
  • Blepharoptosis
  • Cataract
  • Computer-Related Eye Fatigue
  • Graves Disease
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Shingles
  • Strabismus
