About Me

Kristina Murata has over 12 years of clinical health care experience with both children and adults. She has worked with the pediatric population (including young adults) at UCLA since 2006. Her passion and focus is with the management and care of children with intractable epilepsy, specifically those who are considering surgical options. She also has special interest and background in nonpharmacologic treatments such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy, Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) therapy, and Ketogenic diet therapy.

Born and raised in Hawaii, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 2005. She then moved to Los Angeles and worked as a registered nurse and educator at UCLA Medical Center in the Acute Care Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care Units. In 2009, she received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles and began her career as a nurse practitioner. She is board certified by the American Academy Nurse Credentialing Center and licensed by the State of California to provide care for patients of all ages.
