There a several avenues to report incidents/issues to Security or UCLA Police authorities.

Staff can dial #36 for Medical Communications Operators to be transferred to security from any hospital location.
When making an emergency call to 911 from the UCLA Health/UCLA Campus boundaries of Wilshire, Veteran, Hilgard, and Sunset your call will be routed to UCPD. When calling 911 from UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, your call will be routed to the Santa Monica Police Department.
You may also dial #36 from either location to receive assistance or be routed to the correct unit or agency for your emergency.
The following information is crucial when reporting an emergency to Security, Police, Fire or Rescue team:
Security/Police are accustomed to dealing with special requests. Contact the non-emergency number and explain to the individual answering the phone what the nature of the request is and they will be able to advise if they can accommodate your request based on their company/agency protocol.

Security assists and responds to many types of incidents that are reported by staff or hospital visitors.
If you are hospital personnel and experience an assault by staff, a patient or visitor, please contact security/police immediately. Follow the steps on "How to Report a Problem".
Report all injuries at the time of the incident in case medical response may be needed.
File an event report with UCLA Health. You may be required to file a police report.
If staff, patients or visitors are no longer receptive to your verbal commands or interaction and become verbally or physically disruptive or combative, follow the steps for what is needed to report a hospital code (Code Gray) or (Staff Assist) for NPI or ER departments. All the avenues discussed for reporting an incident will get you the assistance needed.
All illegal activity should be reported to Security or UCPD. Security/Police will make the determination of illegal activity after making contact with the subjects or persons that were reported.
Suspicious behavior or suspicious activity should be reported to Security/Police. If you see something say something. Let Security/Police determine if your concerns are valid. ALWAYS REPORT SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR OR ACTIVITY.
If you locate an unattended package contact security/police and give the location of the package and the description. A security officer will be sent to the location to determine if the package is a hazard to the public. Appropriate responders will be sent to the location if the security officer determines that the package is suspicious in nature.
If you believe your personal or hospital property has been taken without permission contact Security/Police and provide them with the following information:
If an individual approached you and you are in fear for your personal safety and they request that you relinquish your property that is considered a ROBBERY. Call Security/Police immediately and be prepared to give them
If a weapon was used you will be asked to give the description of the subject and the weapon.
If your property is vandalized call Security/Police and give the location of the vandalized property as well as the time that you believe this may have occurred. You may have to file police report.
The UCLA Health has numerous parking lots and structures. Make sure when parking your vehicle that you look at the color coded pylons with location and the structure name. ALWAYS look to see the path taken to the building from the parking lot or structure.
If you have a vehicle collision and suffer injuries call Security/Police and they will contact Medical Personnel to respond. All parties may be subject to a police report based on the scene findings by police. If all parties agree that no injuries were suffered you may exchange information and contact your insurance provider. If any party refuses to exchange information contact Security/Police they will assist with the exchange of information.
If your vehicle is disabled contact Security and you will be asked a series of questions.
If you believe your vehicle needs assistance starting and you have roadside assistance (i.e. AAA) or your insurance provides roadside assistance we can contact them or you may call for them to respond. We can assist with directions for the responders.
UCLA Health provides jump starts for disabled vehicles. The Officer may be delayed in responding to your location if there is an emergency that may prevent the officer's immediate arrival. We suggest that you contact additional services as not to delay your departure from your location.
If you cannot locate your vehicle in the parking lots or structures contact Security for assistance in locating your vehicle. An officer will respond in a security vehicle to your location and drive in the area that you believe you misplaced your vehicle. If the vehicle is not located you will be directed to the police department to check your vehicle's status and to possibly make a stolen vehicle report.
