Dr. Shieh grew up in the Greater Boston area, and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then moved to New York City, where he earned his medical degree and completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Weill Cornell Medical College. After his residency, he moved to Los Angeles, where he went to UCLA for his Endocrinology fellowship. During this fellowship, he received training in all areas of clinical endocrinology, as well as extensive clinical and research training in osteoporosis from world leaders in the field. Dr. Shieh has been on the UCLA faculty since 2016. He currently sees patients at both the Westwood campus and in the South Bay. His clinical practice focuses on osteoporosis and calcium disorders, but he is also interested in general endocrinology. Dr. Shieh remains actively involved in osteoporosis research, and has published in top journals in his field, including the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, and Osteoporosis International. He has served as guest editor of the Bone Disorders issue of Endocrinology & Metabolism Clinics of North America, and is currently a reviewer for Osteoporosis International and Bone. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two baby girls, going to the driving range and batting cage, and traveling. He is fluent in Mandarin.
