Lyndsey Bradley was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. When she was three years old, her family moved to Plano, Texas, a mid-sized suburb north of Dallas. By the time she was accepted to Vanderbilt University, she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. At Vanderbilt, she chose an interdisciplinary major in “Medicine, Health, and Society,” taking full advantage of a curriculum that allowed her to study how micro- and macro-environments ultimately affect the health of patients and populations.
After her time at Vanderbilt, Dr. Bradley continued her journey toward becoming a physician by matriculating at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She had her first true exposure to the specialty of anesthesiology during her third-year surgical rotation. She felt inspired by the depth of medical knowledge she saw in the residents and faculty, and by the strength of their procedural skills. She was fascinated by the effects of anesthesia and surgery on the human body in real time. Also, since different anesthetic choices can be utilized for any given case, Dr. Bradley enjoyed the intrinsic artistry and creativity of clinical anesthesiology.
When it came time to choose residency training in anesthesiology, she knew that at UCLA she would have the opportunity to experience challenging cases as early as her CA-1 year. In addition, she found it uplifting that the residents and faculty were great, fun, and caring individuals who always put patient care first.
Looking ahead, Dr. Bradley is planning to apply for a fellowship position in Pain Medicine this year. It is her goal to help patients manage pain through holistic therapeutic approaches such as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy, in addition to advances in procedures and medications. For her, pain medicine is not only about increasing patients’ functionality and independence, but also about empowering them with the thought that there can exist a different, more satisfying trajectory for them.
When not busy being a stellar resident, Lyndsey can be found feeding her passion for art history on the weekends by exploring new collections at various museums around Los Angeles. She is taking full advantage of her upcoming vacation by planning a trip to Croatia. In true LA fashion, she also enjoys hitting the beach, hiking, going to concerts, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. Finally, Lindsey has always said that she wants to try sky-diving before her 30th birthday and plans her first tandem jump soon!
