Daring Way Group: (based on the research of Brene Brown) This group fosters communication and relationship skills and self-worth. It is ideal for adults new to Los Angeles who do not yet have a community, people who are newly divorced or single, or who have identified a pattern of problems with healthy relationships. It is co-ed for men and women and has strong teaching/writing/skills development components. There is a short video (3-5 minutes) shown in every group, and handouts and home therapy is required. There will be some facilitated group discussions, but this group is more of a classroom type of environment. Mondays, 4:30-6 pm. 10-12 week commitment. Santa Monica 20th Street location. Strategies for Fighting Anxiety and Depression: A 10-week confidential group focused on teaching basic tools to help you manage your mood, and lower your experience of anxiety and/or depression. This is a structured evidence-based group and will feature weekly guided mindfulness and cognitive behavioral exercises and homework assignments with the goal of helping you take control of how you feel. Aging with Meaning: A 60+ Process Group focused on helping older adults manage emotions, find new sources of enjoyment and meaning, build new support systems, and grow and learn in a safe, supportive environment. 60+ Process Group: Helping older adults manage emotions, find new sources of enjoyment and meaning, and build new support systems. Typical topics include transitioning to retirement; making new friends; pursuing new interests; coping with grief and loss; dealing with the stress of being a caregiver; and, most importantly--achieving your highest potential at any age. “Smart but Scattered” Teen Group: Helping teens (13-18y/o) organize themselves, improve executive functioning for those who struggle with ADD/ADHD, regulate intense emotions and build self-compassion. Weekly--ongoing, 5:00-6:30 pm West LA Pediatric office with Sharon Bina, MFT.
