Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor death in children of all ages. Brain tumors are also the leading cause of death in men under the age of thirty-nine, twenty percent (20%) of all cancers will spread to the brain Due to the location of the tumors, most patients experience a loss in their ability to move, speak, see, hear and breathe and brain tumors are very difficult to treat.
The Heroes of Hope Race for Research and iDance4aCURE unite the community to help all those affected by childhood and adult brain tumors and cancer. We are excited to announce that the UCLA Neurosurgery department is a proud sponsor of this event. Our Chair, Dr. Liau has generously agreed to allow for the funds raised by our team to go towards our Multidisciplinary Skull Base Program and its research endeavors. It is a unique opportunity for us to help build awareness regarding pituitary and skull base tumors, and to raise funding and support for the clinical projects.
