On our Feet to Support APLA's AIDS Walk Los Angeles

On the morning of October 16, 20 CARE Center faculty and staff, along with community supporters including family members, friends and members of the Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN), gathered on the top level of the Cedars Sinai parking structure to rally in support of APLA's 27th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Dressed in blue UCLA CARE Center team t-shirts, the group enjoyed a breakfast potluck spread and shared stories about how HIV/AIDS had impacted their lives and the lives of their loves ones.

Just after 9 a.m., they made the trek to the starting line in West Hollywood, where they joined 30,000 walkers on a 10K The walk raised over 3 million in support of community organizations including Common Ground, Minority AIDS Project and Being Alive.

The 40-person UCLA CARE Center team raised a total of $5,705, earning a rank of Gold Team.
