Women & HIV

HIV affects cisgendered women’s bodies in unique ways. Women may experience changes in their menstrual cycle or get different side effects from HIV medicines than men. HIV can also cause other health problems that are unique to women such as an increased likelihood of cervical cancer. In order to better understand how HIV might uniquely affect women, clinical researchers are conducting various studies.
