About MEDPEP’s 10th Annual (Virtual) Pre-Health Conference, “Leadership for the Community: Social Justice and Change:
The many challenges URM, low-income, or first-generation students face can be hard for them to handle in ordinary times. In a time of global pandemic, racial injustice, and natural disasters, such challenges become even more difficult. It is important to empower these students and provide them with resources to help them become leaders who can face these challenges. Often these communities lack the resources they need to flourish. Students from these communities are essential to driving social justice and change, because they understand the challenges they face and what support is needed for their communities to thrive. They have the potential to make the world a more equitable and compassionate place for all. As community leaders, we must do our part to nurture these future leaders of change.
