Create a Community Engagement Innovation Institute that will serve as the locus for community engagement.
Garner financial resources to support Community Engagement projects and infrastructure.
Define community using a multifactorial approach (e.g., geographic region, age, race/ethnicity, foreign born vs. U.S. born, income, medically underserved, etc.)
Establish expectations related to community engagement in all mission areas
Provide administrative services and infrastructure to support the community engagement mission
Consider community engagement scholarship in faculty advancement and compensation
Provide financial incentives to departments to encourage community-partnered research and cross-departmental collaboration in community engagement efforts
Build capacity to ensure best practices in community engagement initiatives in all mission areas and across UCLA
