How do I set up a password-protected screensaver for my Apple computer?
(These directions are for Mac OS 10.6. Other versions may vary.)
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, and then go to the Security pane. Select “Require password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins.” This will also secure a laptop when you close the lid.
Go to the Desktop & Screen Saver pane in System Preferences. Select the Screen Saver tab. Move the slider to start the screen saver after 15 minutes or less.
Additionally, you can choose a shortcut so your screen saver starts when you move the pointer to a corner of the screen. To do so, click on “Hot Corners” and select a corner to Start Screen Saver. This allows you to lock your computer by moving the mouse to the specified corner of the screen.
